DI’s Executive Director Transition

A LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Dear Friends,

I am excited to share that Design Impact is launching a search for our next executive director. I have loved being the co-founder and executive director of this organization over the past eleven years, but I’ve determined that it is time for me to move away from the role and let another leader guide the organization into its emerging future.

My decision to resign was not made out of extreme urgency, conflict, downturn, or a desire to immediately transition to another formal opportunity. Rather, it was made after years of thoughtful contemplation, discussions with loved ones, and presencing. It’s important that I create time and space to process this major life choice thoughtfully, so I plan to lean into Design Impact’s sabbatical program through December as a period of discernment for my next steps. (Ramsey Ford, DI’s co-founder, and my amazing life partner, will remain at the organization at this time).

It has been one of my life’s greatest honors to help Design Impact be born into the world and work alongside this team, who are some of the most dedicated and talented people I have ever known. From the early days of co-creating this thing over the dinner table, to the strategic work towards racial equity that we get to do now, it has been a process of constant iteration, learning, and possibility.

Thanks to all of you who have journeyed with us and with me over the years in our mission to build a more equitable world together. I look forward to the great work yet to come out of this brilliant team and the strong community that surrounds it.

With gratitude,

Kate Hanisian
